10 Things I Want To Do In Indy

Downtown Indianapolis

If there’s anything I’ve learned in my recent years of traveling, it is that it doesn’t matter where in the world you are. It only matters who is there with you. I currently have no plans to leave Indy. I’ve grown to love this city and all it has to offer. However, I have nothing holding me here now. I’ve always wanted to live somewhere else, but I mostly just want to be somewhere that I feel like I belong. If the right opportunity presents itself for me to move, I definitely want to be ready for it. If not, at least I will be enjoying the city for all that it has to offer.

1. Find My People

I’ve finally started to find my niche in the Indy community, but I still have a long way to go to make it truly feel like “home”. Whether I stay or go, I want to find the people that will always give me something to look forward to when I return.

2. Take A Brewery Tour

There are a few craft breweries in Indy and more popping up around every turn. I don’t know much about beer other than I’m learning to like it after realizing there are actually decent ones out there. (Yes, my college experience scarred me.)

3. Go to Rocky Horror

I haven’t heard of anywhere in Indy that puts on a performance like Buskirk Chumley in Bloomington. As I continue to settle in to my home in Indy, one of the many things I need to discover is somewhere to catch this performance each Fall.

4. Go to The Nutcracker Performance at IUB

No, this isn’t in Indy. It won’t be the same without my friends up on stage. I might as well see another performance in Indy as well.

5. Check Out All the Foodie Spots

I love to check out new places to eat with out-of-the-ordinary menu items. There are quite a few on my list that I want to check out. Also, I kind of feel like I should have been to Goose The Market already. So, anything that is either atypical, or anything that is an Indy-must (like Harry & Izzy’s) is on the list.

6. Go To Penrod

I had just moved when Penrod 2014 happened. I didn’t realize it was such a huge deal. I definitely want to go next year!

7. Go To The Pride Week Softball Game

I’m not much of a softball kind of gal, but a drag softball game?!?! Seriously. Sign. me. up! (For tickets to watch. Women wearing men’s clothing isn’t nearly as awesome.) Also, I would like to participate in other Pride Week events. I’ve always felt awkward being “Straight but not narrow”.

8. Check Out the Jazz Bars

Yes, Indy has a few of them. And I’ve been to none of them. I’ve always want to go, and definitely will have to!

9. Eat Long’s Donuts

Truth: I’ve lived here for 7 years and have never tried Long’s donuts. Apparently this is not acceptable.

10. Do A Gallery Walk

Or a First Friday. Or multiple of all of the above. Also, check out the galleries in Fountain Square. There are some great artists here in Indy!
